Bateira is part of the first generations in Portugal​ ​​to ​grow up in democracy​ after the 42 year-long fascist regime brought down by the Carnation Revolution. ‘I don’t want to die without seeing the color of spring’ echoes experiences of resistance, protests, uprisings and revolutions reflecting upon the current struggle for human rights, justice and democracy. Shot during the international festival Voicing Resistance 2014, organised by Studio Я at Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, the documentary intertwines theater, dance, film, conferences and concerts to tell a universal story, which revolves with no apparent beginning nor end, but resonates uniting backgrounds.

‘I don’t want to die without seeing the color of spring’ ​turns history into collective memory, converting into fiction an historical document of these controversial times, so that both artists, and performances, can live beyond Studio Я’s stage and reach other audiences.
